Mercat: With a deafening acoustical set-up, this Noho tapas restaurant is noisy enough to numb all your senses, which, truth be told, is a good thing when eating the food here. Much of what is offered can hardly be described as pleasant-tasting, and the dishes look a lot less exciting than they sound on the menu. If you can get over the din of the crowd, the ambiance at the bar is worth checking out for a glass of wine from their extensive all-Spanish selection. But with so many better tapas options for New Yorkers to choose from, Mercat is a merely a spot for the casual visitor to check out on their way into the night. |
